On the lazy Kleinrivier¹ meandering through the Overberg, what is almost certainly an African Black Duck (Anas sparsa). The impromptu photograph was taken from the bridge that crosses the river, underneath which there are a large number of Greater Striped Swallow (Cecropis cucullata) mud pellet nests which they occupy in spring and summer.
