There is truly no predicting the outcome of a composition. As one explores a poem’s theme (“To a Swallow” in this case, but it is true of every other work), one is constantly amazed by the interesting ways in which it may be expressed. (Of these, some are good and some are bad, but now and then, one writes something so excellent—at least in one’s own estimation—that one can scarce believe one’s luck!)
