Nearly all my poems are written in Iambic trimetre—that is, in the three-beat cadence “da-dum da-dum da-dum”. Whenever I compose a sketch (“A Rhebok!” and “Mist from the Mountains” are cases in point), it is almost invariably in that rhythmic structure—I am smitten with its simplicity!
